Two Power Circuit Designs that Generate a Negative DC Voltage Supply

When creating a circuit that either measures or generates bipolar analog signals you will need both a positive and negative DC voltage supplies in your design that cover the range of the bipolar signal you are working with. Even when you are working with a unipolar signal, measuring or sourcing, you may need a negative supply. In the case of a unipolar signal, the negative supply is needed for any amplifier stages where the output of the operational amplifier needs to swing to a true 0V level.

The following video series is by Anabit's sister company ForceTronics. The videos present two circuit designs that allows you to generate a negative DC voltage supply from a positive DC voltage supply. The two circuit topologies covered in the series are a charge pump and a inverting DC to DC converter.
